The Rise of AI Resin Videos

The Rise of AI Resin Videos — What you need to know before trying to re-create them. If you’re anything like (some) of our team, and spend a silly amount of time scrolling social media these days, then you’ve probably noticed a huge increase in resin videos. From hypnotic pours and perfectly clear river tables to magical instant transformations and massive deep pours – resin content is everywhere.

But there’s a new trend that has quickly entered the creative space – AI-generated resin videos. While some of these videos can be entertaining or inspiring, they can also create confusion, especially for beginners. At U RESIN, we’ve recently seen more and more customers coming into our store showing us videos of projects they want to recreate – only to discover that what they’re watching isn’t always real.

Today’s blog is not about criticising technology. AI can be a powerful tool and one we use regularly for many things. But instead, this blog article will be about helping new makers understand how to recognise unrealistic resin content, manage expectations, and practice safety while learning the resin craft. Let’s dive right in what’s happening and how you can confidently navigate it.

Why AI Resin Videos Are Becoming So Popular:
AI video tools have developed rapidly. They can now generate extremely realistic looking footage of creative processes – including resin pouring, casting, sculpting and finishing. Depending on the software, these videos are often visually perfect, fast-paced and satisfying to watch. They are designed to go viral but created without real-world limitations. Because resin art is already visually engaging, it has become a popular subject for AI content creators.

The problem is that AI (in these early stages) does not fully understand the chemistry, safety, curing times, or technical processes involved with resin. It simply creates what looks appealing. For experienced artists or manufacturers like us, this may be obvious to spot however, for beginners, it can be extremely misleading.

When Inspiration Turns Into Unrealistic Expectations:
We regularly meet customers who show us videos of projects they want to make – glowing resin waterfalls, giant pours done in seconds, or objects magically suspended without moulds with no support. When we explain the real process, they are often surprised or wary of our information (why would we see false information on the internet… right?) The truth is resin work can be incredibly rewarding – BUT it is also methodical, technical and time-dependent.

Real resin projects require:
Correct mixing ratios
The correct type of resin
Controlled temperatures
Proper mould preparation
Layered pouring
Sanding and finishing
Safe handling practices
Patience

AI videos often remove many of these steps, or demonstrate them incorrectly. This can unintentionally set beginners up for disappointment when their first project doesn’t look like what they saw online, or when they realise the product/s they used just are suited to what they are wanting to make.

Signs a Resin Video May Be AI-Generated:
Okay, so how can you tell if what you’re watching is real? Here are some common indicators (however not limited too).

1. Unrealistic Pour Depths –  If you see someone pouring a very thick layer of resin in one go, especially into a large/deep mould, this is your first red flag. In reality, most resin systems have pouring limits. Exceeding these can cause overheating, bubbling or even cracking. AI content ignores this completely.

2. Instant Curing – Resin does not cure in seconds and it cannot be instantly cured with a blow torch, butane torch or heat gun. Even fast-setting systems require a minimum cure time which is generally 6+ hours. AI videos often show resin hardening immediately after pouring – which is simply not possible.

3. No Mixing Process – Real resin requires 2-parts and thorough mixing to activate the chemical reaction. If you see resin poured straight from a bottle (or spray can? like we’ve seen) with no measuring or mixing – it’s likely unrealistic content.

4. Perfect Bubble-Free Results Without Effort – While experienced artists can achieve very clear pours, it usually involves a number of processes like; correct resin selection, temperature control, slow mixing, surface preparation and in some instances a pressure or vacuum chamber.

5. Impossible Physical Behaviour – Some AI clips show resin behaving more like water, glass, or even paint. Some examples we’ve seen include: floating shapes that defy gravity, colours blending in unnatural ways, or surfaces instantly polishing themselves. These visual effects may look impressive but do not reflect real-world material properties.

The Real Resin Process — Why It Matters:
Resin is not just a ‘craft medium’ – it is a thermosetting chemical system. This means once mixed, a chemical reaction begins that generates heat and eventually causes the resin to harden. Understanding this process is critical for a number of reasons. Unlike what AI videos may suggest, resin cannot simply be “poured and forgotten/finished.” Each step will influence the final outcome.

Safety Should Always Come First:
One of the biggest concerns we’ve noticed with misleading online content is that it can downplay the importance of safety. At U RESIN, we cannot stress this enough. Working safely with resin is the most important step of any project. When it comes to safety, we will always recommend the following: wearing gloves, protective clothing, ensuring proper ventilation, avoiding skin contact, measuring accurately and following curing guidelines provided by each resin manufacturer.  AI videos often show people handling resin casually or in unrealistic environments, such as bedrooms, kitchens or enclosed spaces. This is not best practice.

Social Media vs Real Learning:
Social media is fantastic for inspiration and in many instances, can be used as a great learning tool BUT it should not ever replace proper learning. The art of resin is a skill developed through, practice, research, testing, guidance and real experience. The more you understand the material, the more successful and enjoyable your projects will be. AI content may make resin look effortless and perfect, but mastering it requires time and patience, and that’s okay.

How We Can Help Bring Your Ideas to Life?
If you’ve seen a resin video and feel inspired – that’s wonderful! We absolutely love seeing new people find resin and begin a new hobby. Creativity starts with inspiration! But before starting a project, especially one that has been seen during an AI-generated video, we always recommend checking:

Is this technically/safely possible?
What resin system is suitable?
What depth can be poured safely?
What tools or preparation are required?
What curing time should be expected?

Our team regularly helps customers translate online ideas into real, achievable projects. Whether thats offering a step-by-step guide, providing experienced-based advice or offering alternative methods to achieve a similar effect. Because in some instances these videos are simply not realistic. So our team will support you through this (if that is the case) and offer other options. Either way, we’re here to support your creative journey and help you unleash the artist within.

Technology Is Evolving – But Craftsmanship Still Matters:
We get it, AI isn’t going away any time soon. It will only continue to grow and develop which means creative industries will continue to adapt. But materials like epoxy resin still follow the laws of chemistry and physics. No matter how advanced digital tools become, real craftsmanship involves understanding materials, respecting processes, practising safe techniques and learning from experience. These are the real foundations of successful resin art.

AI resin videos can be exciting, inspiring and visually impressive – but they don’t always reflect the reality of working with resin. For beginners especially, it’s important to approach online content with curiosity and caution. Take the time to learn the correct processes. Ask questions. Do test pieces. Prioritise safety. And remember — you’re not alone. At U RESIN, we’re always happy to help you turn inspiration into real, achievable projects using the correct materials and techniques. Because the most satisfying resin creations are not the ones that look perfect in a 10-second clip – they are the ones you take the time to truly understand and create yourself.
