How To: Create a Vision Board with Resin

This blog is a little bit different to our usual “How To” series, but we are going to be sharing how to create a vision board which can then be preserved in resin.

So let’s begin with the basics – What is a vision board? A vision board is more than just a pretty collage or images —it’s often seen as a powerful tool for manifesting goals, dreams, and aspirations, by visually representing what you want to achieve. You are essentially creating a daily reminder that helps you stay motivated and focused on your path to success and positivity.

Now you’re probably wonder, how does a vision board work? The idea behind a vision board is that by regularly seeing your goals and desires in a visual format, you reinforce positive thinking and align your mindset with achieving them. While traditional vision boards are often made on poster boards or cork boards, we’re kicking it up a notch by creating a vision board on MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and sealing it with resin for a high gloss finish. Step 1 – Set Your Intentions:

Step 2 – Gather Your Materials:

To create your vision board, you’ll need:

✅ MDF board (a sturdy surface for your vision board)
✅ Magazines, printouts, photos, or stickers for inspiration
✅ Scissors and glue (if using cutouts or images)
✅ Optional: Markers and embellishments for added creativity
✅ Optional: Paints or coloured paper for background design

If you’re sealing your board with resin, you’ll also need:

✅ Epoxy Resin – U RESIN Liquid Glass
✅ Mixing cups and stir sticks
✅ Protective gloves
✅ Torch or heat gun (to remove bubbles)
✅ Drop sheet or protective surface covering

Step 3 – Create Your Vision Board: 

1. Arrange Your Images & Words – Flip through magazines, print quotes, or use personal photos that inspire you. Cut out anything that represents your goals and arrange them on your MDF board in a way that feels inspiring to you. You can create sections based on different life areas or mix everything together into a free-flowing design.
2. Secure Everything in Place – Once you’re happy with your layout, glue everything down using a strong adhesive or Mod Podge. If you are using stickers, remove the backs and stick firmly to the board. Ensure you are pressing each sticker down and not leaving any bubbles or lifted corners. If you want to enhance your board further, you can paint the background or add doodles, stickers, and handwritten affirmations.
3. Let It Dry Completely – If you used glue, Mod Podge, or paint, ensure everything is completely dry before moving to the resin process. This is crucial to prevent issues when applying the resin.

Step 4 – Seal Your Vision Board with Resin: 

Resin will add a smooth, glossy, and professional finish to your vision board, making it look stunning while preserving it for years to come. If you are applying resin, we recommend sealing the vision board with clear mod podge or an adhesive spray and giving the images or stickers a good final press down. This will ensure everything is locked into place to avoid any bubbles or lifting.

1. Prepare Your Workspace – Cover your workspace with a drop sheet or plastic to catch any resin drips. Make sure your MDF board is level so the resin spreads evenly. Wear gloves and protective gear to avoid skin contact with resin.
2. Mix the Resin – Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your resin and hardener. In a mixing cup, combine the two components in the correct ratio (usually 1:1). Stir slowly and thoroughly for 2-3 minutes.
3. Pour & Spread the Resin – Slowly pour the resin onto your vision board. Use a spreader or gloved hand to evenly coat the surface. If bubbles appear, use a torch or heat gun to pop them.
4. Let It Cure – Leave the board undisturbed in a dust-free area for 24 hours. Once fully cured, your board will have a glass-like finish, preserving your vision for years!

Step 5 – Display & Manifest Your Dreams:

Now that your vision board is complete and sealed with resin, display it somewhere you’ll see every day—on your wall, in your workspace, or near your bedside.
