Silica Gel Beads – Perfect for use for floral or natural item preservation in resin projects. These beads are designed to absorb moisture from flowers, keeping them dry and preserving them before use in resin projects.
Our silica gel beads are made from a premium-grade material that is non-toxic and safe for use with flowers. The beads are a fine, sand-like consistency, making it easy to use and store. It is also perfect for fine and delicate flowers as it is light and fine so it won’t cause damage.
To use the silica gel beads, simply place your flowers in an air-tight sealed container and pour the beads over them. Ensure the beads cover all parts of the flowers. The beads will gradually absorb moisture from the flowers, preserving them for use in your resin art projects. Absorption times will vary from 3 days to 2+ weeks depending on the type and size of the flower.

Compared to air drying, using silica gel retains a much more vibrant colour in flowers petals and ensures they are properly dry before embedding them in epoxy resin. Embedding flowers in resin can look fantastic when used done in a block of resin or in smaller pieces like bangles and pendants. For large Block Castings, we recommend our U RESIN OceanCast system.
The silica gel beads can be constantly reused. The Silica comes with orange indicator beads mixed in which change colour when silica beads need drying out. This can simply be done in the oven making the silica gel ready to go again. (instructions on the label)
